Join us for a ride with State Geologist, David Spears, on a geologic detective mission. We will embark on a van tour along the trail to Farmville and learn about some geological features that were exposed by the construction of the South Side Rail Road. There will be a hike under High Bridge to see the foundation stone that support the brick piers and explore some depressions that may have served as brick kilns. After a box lunch we will drive across High Bridge on to Farmville.
There is a $25 per person fee to ride and that includes a box lunch and beverages. Participants need to dress appropriately for the weather and wear closed toe shoes. The ability to walk about one mile is necessary. Seating is very limited (12) so don't wait to reserve your space. Bring your cameras and your best questions about tectonic plates, or the difference between a mineral and a rock.
